I
felt in love in somebody else Amazon parrot. To be specific, it was
Jake (yellow fronted amazon parrot), who owns Richard know on Internet
as CaptWest. I was amazed by how smart and connected to human Amazon
parrot can be. For a while I was considering parrot from a good
breeder, I made already deal with them and one day...
I have an addiction: almost every day I'm searching the local CL with
possible pets to re-home. One day I found out add about white fronted amazon parrot to re-home. It didn't take me long to respond, make
appointment and when I saw the bird, I knew he is going home with me.
Lucky (that was his name) looked so cute, and he was raised around dogs
and other small birds.
Of course I have done research about Amazon parrots before, I even ask
care-takers, birds store owners, amazon parrots breeders how their birds
really are. Almost everybody was telling me, that if I will ever have one,
I will be amazed by they character. And yes, I'm.
Lucky is individualist. His favorite flock person from the beginning was
my boyfriend, which means, that he tolerates me, but doesn't trust me.
Lucky was about 3 years old when I took him and he is male one. With time
past, we learned, that he is a gentleman; he treats his smaller flock
members with respect and never hurts them- even if they are crossing the
line. Chico (our Cockatiel) constantly steal food from his dish, budgies
are often visitors in his cage and Lucky never hurt them. He seems, he
doesn't mind. When he wants quiet and peace, he is giving them laud warning
and pretends like he is ready to bite them, but he never does. Actually
the only one, who was bitten, it was me... but only at the beginning, when
Lucky wasn't feel secure in new place. Otherwise he follows me everywhere,
even to shower...
Chico became his company. Cockatiel and Amazon parrots looks like they
can't live without each other. Wherever is Chico, there I can find Lucky
and opposite. It never crossed my mind before, that I could be that Lucky!
They play together in the same play-gym, use the same toys...
To be honest, I hope that one day my deal with
Amazon breeder will be finalized. I didn't give up dream about amazon-baby
bird, and to tell you the truth, I don't even care if I will be his/her
favorite person or not. Being owned by 'Zon is true blessing!
Last update:
Our Amazon Parrot (Lucky)
can and do speak human language! So far Lucky spoke
3 times (that we know). He also "did" our Cockatiel whistle so
good, that being in another room we would be sure it was really
our Cockatiel Chico. We're very exited and waiting what's going to
be next...
