Our
parrot family also include female Cockatiel: Chico. After a while, Budgies
and Cockatiel are acting friendly, they visit each other cages and eat
from each other containers. Their food is almost the same, so there is nothing to
worry about. Chico won our hearts very fast. She goes with me for a walks
on her harness and win my neighbors hearts every day.

Meet my cute budgerigars, which I call "Munchkins":
Mango,
Coconut,
Lemonade,
Blueberry and
Plum.
Mango
is a rescued bird and my first one. Coconut was a perfect singer and
aviator. Lemonade
passed away December 11th 2010...
Blueberry is acrobat-type and destroying things-type female. Plum,
our last adorable male, is adopted one.

Healthy Budgie Diet
Healthy
budgie diet can't be based on a seeds only. They are high in fat and low
in most of the nutrients necessary for good health. Budgies that eat only
seeds can suffer from malnutrition, obesity, liver disease even though
they may look healthy. Seeds should be offered for budgies in a small
amounts, but not as a total diet. More...

Next Parrot: Lutino Pearl Cockatiel
Happy to share with you good news. We
took her/him, from home, where she/he wasn't wanted. Bird was renamed
from Chiki to Mickey. One Chico is enough here;-) Yes, Mickey is not
that friendly like Chico, but is cute and lovely Cockatiel. At the
beginning she/he was staying in the separate cage, but now is going
crazy with the rest of our flock. Pictures of Mickey soon!
Finally!
Our flock joined WF Amazon parrot: Lucky. He is re-homed sweet and cute
male about 3 years old. Lucky brings us joy. He came as very shy parrot,
but every day he trust us more and opens more to us and our parrots.
We're all in love! Check soon for Lucky's Gallery of Pictures.

According to my vets (or my budgies vets), the minimum size of cage for
budgerigar (for one bird)
is: 24" x 24" x 24" and
the bar spacing 1/4 inch and the perch size: 1/2 inch.
Some pet stores offer a
very small cage for beginners. Big mistake! The bigger cage- the better
for budgie. Your bird should be able to fully extend his wings in all
directions. Good cage has a door, that opens with one side, so your
budgie can easy go in and out.
